The Court of Session decisions in HBJ Claimants v Glasgow City Council [2017] IRLR 739 and Glasgow City Council v Unison Claimants [2017] IRLR 739 ruled that the job evaluation scheme in the Glasgow City Council Work Pay and Benefits Review did not meet the requirements of the Equal Pay Act 1970 that it should be analytical and free from sex bias and that the pay protection scheme was discriminatory.

The Council were not granted leave to appeal, after which they agreed to settle the claims.
